FightNome

A Muay Thai round timer that calls the strikes

Rounds, rest and callouts in one session. Updated 4 November 2026.

Most round timers ring a bell. A round timer with callouts also tells you what to throw inside the round. FightNome does both jobs in one session, and its coach is a recorded human voice.

That matters most in Muay Thai, where the list of weapons is long. Teep, knee, elbow, kick and the defense between them are all easy to forget once you're tired. Hearing the word is easier than reading it.

How the rounds work

What gets called

Kicks, knees and elbows are called by name with lead or rear, and the kick words include teep, low, mid, high, calf, side, back, spin and axe. Defense has its own words (slip, duck, roll, weave, parry, block), so the coach can call a defensive move as part of the combo. In reaction mode the coach throws random calls at you, from 6 to 45 a minute.

Hear it called

A 30-second sample round recorded from the FightNome app: the coach calls jab, hook, body on the beat of the music.

What it doesn't do

It has no video, no trainer on screen and no form check. The calls are in English. It's a paid app with no free tier, and if all you need is a bell every few minutes, a plain interval timer is simpler. For wall timers and clock-style options, see our round timer guide.

Questions

How long is a Muay Thai round?

Under IFMA amateur rules, senior bouts are three rounds of three minutes with a one-minute break. Gyms often use other lengths for drills, and in FightNome you set each section's duration yourself.

Does the timer call Muay Thai kicks, knees and elbows?

Yes. Kicks, knees and elbows are called by name with lead or rear, and the app also covers boxing, kickboxing and MMA.

Can I use it without looking at the screen?

Yes. Play and pause from the headphone remote, with a card on the lock screen. The phone can stay in your pocket.

Does it work for kickboxing and MMA striking?

Yes. FightNome is a pad-work trainer for boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA.
